I've made the difficult decision to retire and I have handed over the practice to the very capable Dr. Tony Phillips. She is our long time optometrist and friend, and you can count on her to continue to provide you with the same great quality lenses and care that you have grown to expect from us. I will miss being the "Eye Guy" of Frederick, but I am looking forward to spending more time with my family. Thank you for so many great memories, David Quin.
Maas Opticians has proudly served the Frederick community for almost 80 years. Owner David and optician Gary have been providing outstanding care for many years, with the assistance of Dawn and the late Sylvia who managed the front desk. Dr. Tony Phillips has been seeing the wonderful patients at Maas for their yearly eye exams over the past 5 years. Voted to the top five optometrist in Frederick in the Frederick News Post last year, Dr. Phillips has thoroughly enjoyed working for Maas. When David and Gary ran into health issues earlier this year, they asked Dr. Phillips to take over the practice. In order to facilitate a successful transition, the office moved to Middletown Maryland, where it can continue to serve the community at its beautiful new location.
All records and glasses have been moved to the new location, and our 7th street office is permanently closed. Renamed Phillips Family Vision, the optometry office and optical continues to provide the same level of care and expertise to lenses. The office uses the same lens laboratory and progressive designs, to keep patients seeing with the same excellence they have known to expect from Maas. Additionally, all Maas patients receive discounted lenses and frames.
Gary has moved down to North Carolina to be closer to his family. He’s looking forward to spending time on the water and relaxing.
David is enjoying his new Yorkie puppy and spending more time with his wife. He is very active in the American Legions and you can sometimes spot him at the new location, giving advice and fixing his own glasses!
Dawn is a very busy finishing her Masters Gardener training - congrats!
